... General Maintenance of Gas Log Sets
FOR VENT FREE SYSTEMS
Basically keep the burners clean and clear of any debris such as lint, hair, dust, carpet fibers, animal hair and any residue build up on the pilot assembly that may occur from usage. The areas to check for are at the air shutters, orifices, burner ports and the ODS pilot area. These areas are most important to keep clean.

Before regular use, be sure to take unit through "burn-off" by igniting the main burner and turning the flame height to highest setting and burn continuously for 4 hours with adequate ventilation to the room during burn-off. |
| B |
Avoid using the log set in the presence of paint vapors, excessive pet hair or airborne particles caused by dusting, vacuuming, etc. |

If fireplace has a damper plate, you may try opening the damper to create a 1-inch opening through which to pull off the worst of the moisture, NO2, CO, CO2, and odors. |
FOR VENTED SYSTEMS
Proper operation of vented gas log sets depends upon proper pan, grate, and log set placement along with proper sand and ember distribution. Keep the burner clean and clear of any debris such as lint, hair, dust, carpet fibers, animal hair and any residue build up on the pilot assembly that may occur from usage. Unit should be centered in the fireplace from right to left. The logs are to be kept clean as often as you use them and can be cleaned off using a brush or a spray bottle with LogBrite or soot remover after the unit is hot and has been turned off. The fireplace damper should remain fully open at all times while unit is burning.
